3D modelling

When creating 3d models for open source games, some basics need to be considered.

  • Structure of a model, vertices, polygons, normals, UV mapping, etc.
  • 3D software
  • Open 3d model formats include:
    • Cal3D
    • COLLADA
    • IQM, a simple, binary skeletal animation format designed with Quake-like/derived engines in mind.
    • MD2, id Tech 2 model format.
