Integrating http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Public_domain_resources and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Public_domain_image_resources will be an interesting task. --qubodup 01:18, 4 February 2008 (CET)

Yophoto
I removed it because it was very unsupportive for searching free content and does not contain files in itself. I will include the sources, where it searched, instead. --qubodup 01:35, 4 February 2008 (CET)
Mattn's photos
I've created a lot of gpled photos - you might want to include them in the list: http://picasaweb.google.com/Martin.Gerhardy --Mattn 17:29, 28 February 2008 (CET)
- Thanks Mattn, good collection! --qubodup 17:11, 29 February 2008 (CET)
Texture Packs
What about this free texture gallery? --FreeGamer 05:30, 15 March 2008 (CET)
Nice find, but they are not free (it's not mentioned at least), they are low-rez and contain logos of the maker, so I don't think he's giving them away. --qubodup 21:07, 16 March 2008 (CET)
TraK
I just recently noticed that webpage too and was just about to add the texture packs to the FGA website when I noticed the strange wording of the readme:
- "Some source textures are copyrighted by CGTextures.com. Permission to use these specific textures under the GPL license has been granted to to the author of this texture pack. Textures downloaded from CGTextures.com DO NOT fall under the GPL license by default."
It does not specifiy which texture are ment though, which pretty much renders all the textures unusable under the terms of the GPL or the CC license he claims these are under :( --Julius 01:29, 20 June 2008 (CEST)
- What is the problem? Some of the textures have been given to TRaK to be used under GPL (at least if it's the truth) this does not require the textures on CGTextures.com to be GPLed.
- Or is your problem that the textures used are of lesser quality that the CGtexture originals which means that the 'source code' requirement is not fulfilled? That would be a valid point. I don't know if that's the case though. --qubodup 02:32, 20 June 2008 (CEST)
- Errm...forget what I said. Completely missunderstood the text. --Julius 13:18, 20 June 2008 (CEST)
Reference Images
I haven't taken a close look, but it appears all of the reference images are not freely licensed. If they are, please provide at least the license information for each of them. --qubodup 23:04, 8 May 2009 (CEST)
- I'll remove them until license info is clear. --qubodup 08:53, 15 May 2009 (CEST)
- They are mostly royality-free or stuff with unclear licensing (blueprints) but that doesn't really matter in that case, as that stuff is used for reference only and not directly as art itself in a game. An additional warning might be appropriate or a move to a separate page, as this one is for the Free stuff, but deleting them would be stupid, as those links are way to useful. -- Grumbel 11:18, 16 May 2009 (CEST)
- According to this, the book itself is Copyright 1979 (even though the images in it are pd). I think these images are super-useful though. I hope somebody (including me) will have the time to create a freely-licensed compilation of those images (the originals can be found on archive.org)--qubodup 01:48, 19 May 2009 (CEST)
- When creating this page, I was thinking of media that can be used in-game. I do think that much of the stuff you liked can be used and that the other stuff is very useful, but it's not free, which is what this page is supposed to exclusively contain (see first sentence of page.) I know that the need to re-distribute etc is not as 'important' here, but it still doesn't fit on this page (I'm not saying "site"). I would recommend adding it to the wiki, because I think that documentation should be free but since we link to normal tutorials, another article would be fine too.--qubodup 01:48, 19 May 2009 (CEST)
