I just released Shamogu v1.2.0 yesterday! The main novelty is a new mod system that allows to enable a couple of builtin expansions and a few challenge mods. The expansions provide seven new secondary spirits (which I'm really happy with!) and lots of small surprises during exploration, too. There's also two new primary spirits, the Spinning Crocodile and the Vampiric Bat, that are a bit more tricky to play than the five classic ones, but quite fun.
Here's how the new mod settings menu looks like:

The idea for the mod approach was to keep the vanilla game simple enough, so that players can wait until they're ready before enabling more content.
Also, other than various fixes and minor stuff, the main change in the classic game were a few Lignification rebalance tweaks that should make lignification fruit less of a risky gamble! In particular, when you're afraid and lignified (and hence cannot move) getting hit makes you Berserk for a short duration, now, a bit like how feeling cornered when afraid with no escape routes already made you Berserk.
Some improvements UI-wise in the SDL2 version, too. Acceleration is now enabled by default, as the software rendering mode actually is not that well supported on some recent systems (there were some issues with dual screen or something). There are also new options -w and -h for adjusting scale (and window size).
