I think Nvidia acquisition of ARM was canceled by the UK government? Not 100% sure what the latest info on that is.
But to be honest, except for locked down bootloader issues on some ARM platforms I don't really see much of a difference to Risc-V etc from a user and software developer perspective. It seems the open-ness around those is mainly interesting for chip producers and those abuse it a lot by adding proprietary extensions to their Risc-V chips. Ultimatly it might drive prices down a bit though as there are no licensing fees like for ARM.
