Peter Microsoft joins O3DE foundation. Maybe I'm a bit negative (again) but I don't praise the engine or the hype about it. It's Microsoft it's open source not libre ( I mean the attitude) and ONE engine as a general solution for every game is not recommendable. So what do you think? https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/the-open-3d-foundation-welcomes-microsoft-as-a-premier-member-to-advance-the-future-of-open-source-3d-development-301536018.html Greetings Peter
Elouin I agree with all your points. Microsoft is imho propably the most untrustworthy of the big tech companies, when it comes to stuff like this. In general this engine mainly is a gateway drug to all the paid and non-free services that are heavily tied to it. So its not open source because of the general idea behind (F)OSS, but because they want you to use AWS and whatever else this is tied to.
dulsi Open 3D Engine was dumped by Amazon. Who cares if Microsoft contributes to it? If it ends up good and open source great for us. Is there any open source project using the engine?
