I heard the Mickey Mouse might enter the Public Domain by 2024, so expect a major copyright extension in the US again because Disney just wants infinite copyright.
I expect the the lobbying machine of the copyright lobby to become hyperactive again in about 2023.
They will always find an excuse for this.
Worst of all, the public's perception of this topic is so awful, some people, who have absolutely nothing to gain from infinite copyright, unironically view it as a catastrophe if the Mickey Mouse "falls" into the Public Domain as if people suddenly stop being creative if they can no longer drop legal nukes on people. There are people, normal people, who unironically defend Disney on their quest from ever-increasing copyright.
It's infuriating, copyright ruins so much, and it keeps getting worse.
