PublicLewdness One issue I have in finding a FOSS game to play is that many of them are online games where I prefer single player games with a story. Obviously that adds extra cost in terms of AI; writers; etc so it's harder to pull off on the shoe string budget of a FOSS game. Genre wise I prefer first and therd person shooters/action games; platformers; adventure games and RPGs (turn based or real time). Any ideas ? I think Tuxemon will be up my alley when it is further along and I have Retux as well as Lugaru HD on my backlog that I will be starting soon.
Peter Maybe Flare is something for you? A single player RPG with isometric graphics, but it's a bit tough to get progress (both story and fighting level). https://flarerpg.org/ Here's a list of libre RPGs, but I am not sure about the quality of those games: https://awesomeopensource.com/projects/rpg I think there are several libre ego shooters out there. But it's not my genre. Same with platformers. Maybe the platformer SuperTux: https://www.supertux.org/ Greetings Peter
Technopeasant Peter Very few libre ego shooters with single-player campaigns, apart from Freedoom and Anarch sadly
PublicLewdness Flare and Tanks of Freedom look like their up my alley, thanks for the reccomendations ! Super Tux is on my list but i'm hoping to wait until it is closer to being done.
dulsi Seahorse Adventures is a platformer. I have a updated version on github that runs on python3. Witch's Blast is a fun game but not much in way of story. Link is to my fork. It adds gamerzilla support. Marvellous Inc. is a zach-like game with a story. It is available for purchase from Steam or you can get the source and run it. Here is a link to my fork that runs on latest love engine.
Elouin Battle for Wesnoth is a TBS Game and has some great single player campaigns Endless Sky is a pure singleplayer 2D Space Sim
[deleted] freedroid RPG widelands (macro RTS though) ardentryst, which is superb wesnoth, already said, but I must put emphasis on the high number of high quality solo content and mods. Will definitely suit you as long as you enjoy turn-based stuff: either RPG or TBS. There was a lemmings clone, too, which was interesting, but I don't remember the name. This does not, you'll admit it, require any AI, but it does requires work to do the levels! armagetronad I could probably remember a lot more examples by simply looking at https://debtags.debian.org/search/?wl=&q=game&qf=default which is basically a variant of how I spent shitload of hours in solo, FOSS games. I like Solo games, especially solo RPG, but there are not much nowadays, even big corps likely considers them to cost too much to produce. Heh!!! SIlly me! https://forum.freegamedev.net/viewforum.php?f=76 valyria tear of course. I really like it.
Sockstah [deleted] There was a lemmings clone, too, which was interesting, but I don't remember the name Lix? There's also Pingus but I like Lix a lot better.
Peter I had an idea: Maybe text adventures are for you? They are mostly not FOSS, but they are often gratis. Some players think they are boring, other people find them exciting. They definitely have a story.
