ffaf Ah, I see what you mean. I was a bit confused because I thought you were talking about technology which automatically modifies games to be compatible with future devices, which was something I was neither aware nor knowledgeable of. Maybe that could exist in some capacity, but it's debatable how well it would work. Anyways, thank you for clarifying what you really meant.
On the Old FreeGameDev version of this thread, a user named bzt made a post which talks about how Eric S. Raymond (yes, that Eric S. Raymond) restored some old computer games by converting them to newer programming languages, specifically Python and C. It's a rather interesting read in my opinion, and it gave me some insight into ESR's work that I didn't have before.
