Repixture

Wuzzy

Repixture is a voxel sandbox game that runs in Minetest. My ultimate aim is to eventually have a game that is the first recommended game for newcomers to the voxel sandbox genre while still being interesting enough for longer-time players. Unlike other games for Minetest, this game is meant to be completely self-contained.

There is no goal, you just punch blocks to break them and build things. You can: explore, craft tools, mine for ores, breed animals, farm, collect achievements, trade with villagers.

HOW TO INSTALL:

First, download Minetest from https://minetest.net
Then go to "Content" tab in Minetest and search for Repixture and download it
Now create a world and start playing

Then please give me feedback if anything was confusing to you. I want to know how beginner-friendly it is right now.

Far from being a minetest aficionado, I played a bit. I slayed a sheep, got some reeds, grass, wood, made planks, sticks and a boat that I don't know how to load/use/enter.

I was already aware of controls.

edit: ok right click, I am not cruising in the sea. It rains a lot. I don't know how to craft a pickaxe.

Just played it a little, looks pretty nice! I like the different take on the crafting, makes me want to play it a bit more, even though i played quite a bit minecraft/mineclone and thus am not new to the whole voxel sandbox thing.

Two things i found that may be a turn down for newbies:

Was a bit confusing that you have to click on the ? again to close the help menu. When i reopen the inventory or put materials in the crafting slots, i was still seeing the help menu.
I don't know if its my slight color blindness, but i can't read the Table of Contents in the manual with that color scheme.

The TOC color is indeed bad. It's the default link color of the browser, I forgot to set a correct value in the CSS. Oops.

I should probably add a "how to enter boat" hint in the tooltip.

Not sure if I want to auto-disable the crafting guide when you close the inventory. But I think about it.

Besides, although the game is technically way beyond the 1.0 version, I feel like it still needs more things you can do to keep it interesting.

(I started MineClone 2 btw, but I have given control over the project to others a few years ago.)

Yeah, i know. Been playing mineclone2 for quite a while now. Been mostly a quite lurker of the community though. But in general thanks for starting such a great effort! :)

Ah right, this is a good argument. My idea to handle this is to gray out entries in the list if you cannot craft them. But closing the crafting guide when putting items in the slots sounds very annoying to me tho.
