Something I just came across:

In case someone runs a Minetest server and wants to bridge the chat.

It has Matterbridge integration that we can use to link to our IRC channels. Just let me know if we should add a channel to our Matterbridge config.

Those two look promising. I am currently looking into options of making the chat in minetest more noticeable, since its just very small white text in the upper left corner of the screen ingame. Bridging it somewhere, so that players could get notifications on messages was one idea. A mod with a better placed chat window was another, but i dont know if thats easily done.
