Meet Blip 'n Blup, two parrotfish enjoying a relatively quiet life in the ocean. The environment hasn't been what it used to be though, and they've had it up to their backfin with all the trash and chemicals being dumped around their precious home. It's a good thing they're vegan, because especially animal life is not doing well... although their kelp too has developed an odd aftertaste.
Then one stormy day, a shipping container comes crashing down and the two only narrowly escape being crushed themselves as they see their home be completely demolished. With Blip raging and Blup sobbing, the door of the container is pushed open by a truckload of old shoes, that happen to be just their size. Not passing up on the opportunity to leave this pile of misery behind and explore the above - the source of their torment - they each put on a pair and head for the surface.
Only just have they set fin on the beach, still taking in this foreign world, when they notice a moray eel has followed them out from the sea: It's the gluttonous Sa'Tong, always looking for food. But Sa'Tong is no eat-everything-that-moves anguilliform, he lives by the creed of "Eat a fish and you're fed for an hour, employ a fish and you'll be fed for its lifetime". And seeing the potential these two fish have for hunting snacks with their bubble blowing skills, the eel extorts them. From that point on Blip 'n Blup have to make sure Sa'Tong doesn't go hungry, or they will be eaten themselves, leaving them no choice but to agree to this pact.
If they go about this the right way, maybe they'll have time to pick up some trash in the less bountiful urban areas they'll pass through on their skyward journey; to clear their karma before inevitably encountering the most high.
