Elouin Rampoina came up with the idea of a Software Freedom Day Edition of LibreJam. My Idea would be to run it 9.-16.09. Welcome to a special edition of the game jam for libre games, LibreJam! This one is for the Software Freedom Day an annual celebration of Free Software. In the week leading up to the Software Freedom Day, we welcome you all to create a libre game. The days after the Software Freedmo Day, you can then playtest and rate the submissions. We are collecting theme ideas in this pad: https://pad.snopyta.org/BcVYKDPhQ_yYXJ3-CD7Bkg#
poVoq I still think a game specific thing, like a LibreQuake map-making jam or maybe a make a new mini-game for Librerama jam would be the better idea.
Peter I think the jam can be a good idea and fun. I personally would probably concentrate more on showing existing, well-polished libre games to newbies. Like Wesnoth, Minetest and and and...
poVoq Peter That is also planned. Someone got into contact with an organizer of in-person Software Freedom day events and exchanged some ideas what games to showcase. I think they are still discussing and looking for suggestions.
Elouin Because of limited interest/time from the regulars, we decided to not run the SFD Edition of Librejam. Instead there is a poll for the next month we are jamming. So if you are interested, vote!
