The Tournament will be played on 10.Nov.2023.

This is the first of, hopefully many to come, tournaments and we plan to make it a monthly tournament.

The website is build with Wordpress and we are working on a way to host the code on git so it is public.
The prize pool is in Bitcoin so everyone can confirm where the money goes.

I seriously would prefer a non-money tournament over one pestering the world any time. The transparency seems hardly like a valid argument to me, as neither STK nor 0AD is holding a known "Wallet" for BitCoin transactions.

Btw.: Isn't 0AD sitting on a pile of money, not knowing what to do with it since years anyway?

Imho the aspect of community building/publicity for FLOSS games of an organized tournament would be more important than financial support of projects/prize money.

I participated in online tournaments without price money in the past, and actually organize small in-community tournaments (although not FLOSS-ones) somewhere else. All that there is to win is your name on top of a list. It's fun!

They got money for paying someone a salary for improving the development:

Sounds great, maybe we can implement it in some way to the open-source-gaming-tournament.
We are also thinking about including speed runs and many more other features but... as they say... lets make one step after another.

If you are interested we are also thinking of making the whole organization of the tournament open and will look for people who would like to participate in organizing/casting/streaming/hosting the tournament for a share of the prize pool.
So you are more then welcome to join as soon as we get going :)

As said: I absolutely reject crypto. I don't want to appear somewhere in the reach of it. Sorry to say btw., but this is how it is. Imho you (or your pal) should consider searching for a less shady branch of operation.

Crypto seems to be the only open-source solution for a Prize-Pool, at least from our research.
We tried Amazon-Giftcards but a lot of users rejected the idea of supporting Amazon.
We tried Virtual Credit Cards but a lot of users rejected the "banking system"
But we will keep a lookout for a solution that is more universally acceptable.

Maybe something physical, like a cup or medal or a laptop.
If you have some alternatives to Bitcoin/Crypto we would be happy to hear about it!

@forg1veforget Next time I propose choosing a time and day better suited for international play. Playing on the weekend would be a better choice.

We will figure out a way to make the games based on timezone.
