Is it in any way helping to keep both ships intact?
The tunnel should become much more holey once the generation catches up after one ship has crashed.
Are the generations always solvable with 2 ships?
A symmetrical safe path (two in fact, while both ships are alive) should always generate. There is however no protection against fake safe paths generated by randomness that just end beyond what you can see. I believe those to be rare, though.
Maybe using presets of patterns that are combined and extended would improve the
overall experience;
Perhaps, if done well. I've played an endless runner where the preset patterns were really obvious and that got boring real fast. I'm not sure I could do better with that than the current generator.

I had considered extending the track, but additional ones never really occurred to me for some reason. Finding ones that sound similar enough to fit in the same game might be difficult though! Also, I don't want to have so much music that getting to the point where it actually loops is impossible, since that's a kind of a reward for surviving.

for the native edition. For the web edition, there's the settings.js, at least some of which can be overridden using the web console.
