So what I'm I looking for help with?
Dwarf Fortress is made by Tarn & Zach writing stories that they would like the players to be able to have then Tarn implements the systems needed for those stories to be possible.
I similar approach was taken by the team that made Prom Week, with the set of over 5,000 sociocultural considerations of its social model of high school life being crafted based on ethnographic analysis of pertinent media sources.
I'm looking for someone to help analyze stories and break them down into the 'social games' that the story is comprised of and take those specific instances of games and generalize them.
What is it for?
I want to crowd source the creation of Cultural Scripts(of Natural Semantic Metalanguage)
"Cultural scripts" are a way of spelling out different "local" conventions of discourse using semantic primes.
Cultural scripts are not intended to provide an account of real-life social interactions. Rather they are intended as descriptions of commonly held assumptions about how "people think" about social interaction that people bring with them into everyday interactions that form a kind of interpretive background against which individuals position their own acts and those of others.
These stylized descriptions of society are the perfect building blocks for stories.
The goal of my project isn't to change people's behavior(directly) or even to change those assumptions that people bring to their everyday interactions but by giving people a chance to see what would happen if their assumptions were true and to explore the other possibilities, I'm hopeful about getting people to realize that others might be operating with assumptions that are different than theirs.
And if it fails to achieve such lofty goals it should still produce some great games.
as money kills good motivations and this is open source I won't discuss that topic other than to say I plan to not just take contributions and not give anything back to the devs that made them.
