I intend to launch a Kickstarter for Mojotron so I decided to see how open source games have done on Kickstarter. There have been very few that I have found.

A House in California succeeded and was even an Idependent Games Festival Finalist. It compiled for flash. I don't know if it is possible to build and run now.

Sissyfight 2000 succeeded eventually. The source code was released in 2017. They never posted about that on the kickstarter project. Maybe everyone was expected to access the game site by then. Comments suggest people weren't exactly pleased with how long it took and the limited communications.

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is still in development today but that doesn't mean kickstarter worked out. The kickstarter was to fund a full time developer for three months. They would implement a graphical tile interface, mod manager, and z levels so you could have skyscrappers. Some of the rewards included submitting a house map to be added to the game. The comments suggest that none of the features were fully implemented in that time. More angry comments found in this kickstarter.

Comments suggest Pissed Off Penguins didn't deliver as well. The github has some blender files and some tar.gz files. I haven't looked in the tar.gz files to see if it has any source code and what is implemented.

I'm surprised at the level of funding these projects achieved (except Cataclysm: DDA). None of these were recent so it may be harder now.
