I have played the demo a bit and I am positively impressed! I really like indie games with an edge and this has it, a mix of an unforgiving roguelike and a platformer.

I have unlocked one (1) achievement, I look forward more games from you!

I played some more (now two achievements!) and found it so slick I gifted it to a friend.
I will try to check the code too, I really like when a game manages to do so much with so little.

Consder opening a blog or a mastodon account so people can follow you.

edit: ah! Now I see Aracne Cache, I will put that in my RSS feed. Your retrosynth music is beautiful too.

edit: compile-it-yourself experience is subpar though. I followed Linux instruction and ended up with a ways.o, I don’t know what to do with it. I am not saying “give us a makefile” (even though it would be handy) but yeah, give us a makefile or something to paste.

But I seldom post about my own projects there or on my blog, mostly I review less known, interesting games without any involvement of us there.

About compiling: Had an error in the readme. Updating right now. Use

g++ -Wall -o Ways ways.cpp -lSDL2 -lSDL2_mixer -lSDL2_ttf -lSDL2_image

instead of the command I wrote there and past the resulting file in the main game folder.
Please tell me if this doesn't work, then we can figure it out. Going to update the readme on the source to clear this up. Thanks for the feedback!

I asked a friend and she told me to remove -c from:

g++ -Wall -c ways.cpp -lSDL2 -lSDL2_mixer -lSDL2_ttf -lSDL2_image

And then I can run ./a.out no probs.

Got Odysseus and Achilles achievements, I really really really hate to start from the start at every death.

About the dying: Its, ehm, intended as part of the fun ;). When you played a bit you'll eventually survive longer. Enabling Hard-Mode in the Options will increase the scroll speed.

I am really lost at bosses... the one with long legs I don't know how to beat, the elk/deer one neither, only the one with the man in a white suit.

I need a youtube let's play! xD

ok ok you can slide, but what to do after you beat guy-in-a-white-suit? Can you climb that red structure?

I gave in and replaced every occourrence of X.Enemy=true with X.Enemy=false.

Minos was challenging to beat with cheat mode on.

A bit rough on the edges but quite a worthy gaming experience, well done!

You probably figured it out till now, but you can roll through under the walking birds/the minotaur to bypass them if you time the dodge right.

The boss is hard, but once you get the nip you can do him quite regular.I myself struggle to beat the 1000-Points achievement. It is possible, best result I got was over 900 points.
