If you grab latest from gitlab, you will see the results of my chainsaw surgery. I tried to live with the original design of moving in squares. I even made it animate between squares but it was painful to watch. The komodo would move a square and then sit before moving again.
Instead I ripped apart the code and made it more like Gauntlet. Monsters and players are not restricted to moving in squares. There is a bug at the moment where if you get the speed upgrade you can get out of alignment with squares and be unable to go through one wide corridors. I'm going to fix that when I get a chance.
