Ok, again:
Update again. This week I'm into MMORPGs.
3 unfree ones:
Furcadia, Mana World and Lord of the Rings Online (Lotro).
Lotro ate up 33 GB of my HD space. (Edit: It has more than 30 seconds lag on my old PC. So no Lotro for me...)

And one free:
Stendhal. Simple gfx/GUI :(
And it needs a lot of grinding.
Pro tip: Don't play via browser, instead use the Java client. It's a good game.

I looked it up and yes, you are right: The software is libre and the assets are under dual license (GPL and CC-BY-SA).

I still consider myself as highly spoiled every time Kenta Cho releases something, I'm more happy with his games than play-station games. He made 50 browser games in 2014, and last year he just released something like a hundred one button games:

I particularly like "sshake", when I see something funny on the internet, on tv or on the cinema, I usually smile more than really lough, but "sshake" really made me laugh out loud!

Currently playing Neopets (yes, really!) and Illyriad. Both proprietary. Thinking about writing something similar to both of them but libre. But I should not get bogged down in too many projects...

As of late I've been playing SuperTux (mainly experimenting with the level editor), and I've also been testing out Python games I'm creating on my Raspberry Pi (studying some Python stuff from Al Sweigart as a reference.) I've also played some TuxPuck, Hedgewars, and Minetest somewhat recently.

Been playing games made using the Easy FPS Editor over on itch.io, which is a really nice successor to things such as the Pie 3D Game Creation System and more explicitly the Raycasting Game Maker.

A shame the creator is explicitly uninterested in releasing the source code. Raganar Random's games use libre graphics however.

Started playing Dusk. After hearing so many nice things about it I find it a little underwhelming. It has neither the streamlined gameplay of Quake nor the level design depth of Duke Nukem 3D or Blood. It homages its inspirations but does not transcend them.

Also got the co-operative mod for Slime Rancher to work to play with my partner.

Both are Unity so neither are FLOSS.

Technopeasant Yeah, I was underwhelmed by Dusk as well. But Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is similar and quite nice. And it actually uses the Darkplaces open-source engine.

I was blocked for nothing special on Neopets. I just mis-clicked. I could ask for reactivation but the game is not cool enough for me to justify that. So I stop playing Neopets.

I am now trying out several open source/libre games on GNU/Linux:

Peter At risk of hijacking this thread, I had similar experiences with compiling lately. Usually I write a line or to two devs to gently point them at lacking doucmentation or extremely specific dependencies.

Sometimes, it works in getting more streamlined compiling process.

This is where Flatpacks can help, though I understand their downsides. Or I just Wine the Windows version when I can't be bothered.
